Bike Rides

The Granary welcomes cyclists, offering lots of space to lock up bikes. The rolling countryside around us is ideal for all fitness levels – and in many ways, Northamptonshire is a haven for cyclists. We are often faced with mountain bike cyclists making a midway pitstop to regain their energy before heading back across the Fawsley Estate.

The National Byway cycle route enters Northamptonshire in the north of the county, and forms a 29 mile loop near to Oundle.

There are also two National Cycle Route paths in Northamptonshire. Route 6, the Brampton Valley Way, begins in Northampton – but also provides 14 miles of blissful rural cycleway, free from motor vehicles. Route 50 stretches through a number of charming Northamptonshire villages, passing close to Fawsley along the old Daventry to Braunston railway line – the old railway providing fine service to cyclists from near and far.

Organised by Northamptonshire County Council, the annual Summer of Cycling runs from June to September, with events for cyclists of every age and level of experience – like guided rides and cycling tours.

A variety of off-road cycle trails wind their way through the beautiful woodland at Fineshade. Bike hire is available on site, from Rutland Cycling, and there are trails for families. Fineshade Woods also boasts the renowned Wakerley Red Route – 6 kilometers of turns and twists to challenge even the most experienced off-road rider.
