Our Pledge:

What we’re already doing…

Our Venue:

 

  • We record energy usage allowing accurate monitoring of our consumption
  • Rolling program to replace all bulbs with Led lights.
  • We have our own sewage treatment plant on site.
  • All glass, cardboard clear and plastics are recycled locally.
  • We actively purchase products with minimal single use plastics
  • Our aim is to reduce our waste produced by 50% in 2023 and also to reduce our single use items to 10% by the end of the year.
  • Composting system installed for 60% of food waste allowing us to use our own compost in our gardens
  • Encouraging low waste, eco options for weddings and events

Our Bedrooms:

 

  • We use low-energy bulbs in most fittings.
  • We change bed linen after the second night unless requested.
  • Kettles are of 1 litre capacity or less to save energy boiling water that is not required.
  • Use of Coffee pod machines using compostable pods.

Our Bathrooms:

 

  • All water is treated on site with our treatment plant.
  • To reduce detergent and water usage, we only change towels when requested.
  • Towels washed and dried on site using AAA+ energy rated equipment and zero road miles
  • Our toilet rolls are certified100% British recycled.
  • We use naturally produced cleaning products where possible
  • We provide large eco-pump bottles of bathroom toiletries to minimise wastage. We use Faith in Nature 100% natural organic ingredients.

Food & Beverage:

 

  • We use only British meats and local where available
  • Our bread, eggs and yoghurts are produced within 12 miles of our property supporting the local economy.
  • We use locally sourced products wherever possible and quality prevails.
  • We use a local gin, vodka and ale as well as a local distributor for wines and spirits.

On our doorstep:

 

  • We are dedicated to our surroundings, partaking in regular litter picks and conserving the natural area around the property, encouraging ducks, barn owls, deer, foxes, badgers and other wildlife.
  • This policy statement and our carbon reduction plan will be reviewed annually to ensure that it remains applicable to the activities of The Granary and any agreements made between the property and its stakeholders.

What we’re working on in 2023…

 

  • Looking at options for replacing our LPG Gas heating with a more sustainable option
  • Increasing homeworking for staff to cut down on vehicle emissions
  • Furthering our use of local, sustainable suppliers
  • When capital purchases need replacing, researching the most carbon efficient option
